Gerber Epic

The Gerber Epic is one of Gerber’s upcoming knives due for a February 2010 release.  It represents one of Gerber’s attempts to modernize their knife lineup, and by all accounts, they’ve succeeded.  It’s 3.5″ blunt point blade is ready for any camp or backcountry task, and it’s innovative locking sheath allows the knife to be attached right-handed or left-handed, in either a point-up or point-down configuration.  Oh yeah, it has a bottle opener built into the handle, too.  Gerber Epic ($TBA)

Craftsman has come up with a new set of wrenches that combines the best of the open-ended designs and closed ratchets. They fit neatly into tight spots just like an open wrench, and a spring-loaded button inside the head allows the head of the wrench to operate like a ratchet, without letting go of the bolt. Comes in a handy set of eight different sizes! ($100)

Eye-Fi Pro

Eye-Fi Pro

The Eye-Fi Pro boasts the highest features per square inch ratio we’ve ever seen.  The Eye-Fi Pro is the easiest way to turn your point-and-shoot or Digital SLR into a photo-sharing, geotagging beast.  With it’s built-in WiFi, it is able to broadcast your photos (including RAW) to your computer, to a photo sharing service (Flickr, etc), or to Eye Fi’s own storage servers.  At the same time, it also geotags your photos, allowing you to sort through them later in your photo editor of choice (for us that’s iPhoto).  And don’t worry, for the nights out on the town there is a “selective transfer” option so that your photo-evidence is not immediately uploaded for all to see.  Eye-Fi Pro ($150)

Oracle 35x-14 HID Flashlight

Oracle 35x-14 HID Flashlight

We have a hard time referring to the Oracle as a flashlight.  As a matter of fact, it is usually referred to as a “searchlight”.  This light packs some serious power.  It has a complete HID ballast system to provide the light, the same type of HID system found in many luxury automobiles.  Powering that is a Lithium battery rated for over 500 charge cycles.  The whole package is housed in a 14″ all aluminum body that carries an IPX3 Waterproof rating.  The light and it’s accessories are packaged together in a lockable hard case.  Oracle 35x-14 HID Flashlight ($330)

Bosch PS40-2A Litheon Impact Driver

Bosch Impactor

The Bosch Impactor may be small, but it packs a punch.  As an impact driver running off a modest 12-volt battery, it is able to deliver up to 800 in-lbs of torque, about 60% more than an 18-volt driver/drill.  It’s size means that it can work anywhere: under counters, crawlspaces, wherever your household duties might take you (there’s also an LED light ring on the front to help you see when you get there).  It features all metal gears for high speed and long life, as well as a rubber shock absorber to help it withstand falls of up to six and a half feet.  Bosch PS40-2A Litheon Impact Driver ($150)

Tired of trying to take self-portraits of you and your friends, and then having to re-take them when they turn out crooked? Well Samsung comes to the rescue with the Samsung TL225, incorporating a 1.5 inch LCD next to the front lens of the camera. The screen lets you line up the shot, do a timed countdown shot, or shows a cartoon to children for the best self portraits. ($349)

It happens.  You have that great new piece of technology, such as a digital camera, only to realize that you won’t be decorating your place any time soon with cool black and whites.  Because your shots keep coming out blurry, or because you just can’t get a feel for the subject, you need some advice.  Digital Photography school offers tons of tips from professionals for all of your needs, plus pictures to inspire you (we love their top 20 Urban Decay shots, as the picture above).  It’s time to take your camera out of your closet and use it.

Canon Powershot SD990IS Camera

23019

We review tons of different cameras out in the digital market but few live up to our standards. The Canon Powershot SD990IS is far and away the top of the line right now for point-and-shoot cameras. This camera makes a very large statement without having to compromise the small form factor of the digital ELF series. At 14.7 megapixels this camera makes images with larger pixel counts than a lot of DSLR’s on the market. In addition to all the standard shooting modes of prior Powershot series cameras, Canon allows the user to select any of 17 different shooting modes including portrait, foliage, snow, beach, sunset, fireworks, aquarium, underwater, indoor, kids and pets, and night snapshot. There is also a very cool “stitch-assist” mode that allows you to string a series of shots together for awesome panoramic shots. ($300-350)
