Design Within Reach Water Pitcher

Water Pitcher

Leave it to DWR to create a great looking and highly functional water pitcher.  The charcoal water pitcher uses louseki stones and Binchotan charcoal to create filtered, mineral rich water.  The charcoal also acts as a deodorizer, helping you to have a little less funk in your water.  Each set of charcoal and stones lasts up to six months, and when you do replace them, they have zero landfill impact unlike their plastic-based brethren.  DWR Water Pitcher ($85)

For those who are slightly grossed out about using a traditional ice luge, we have to admit this is pretty funny. The Boob Luge spices up any party, and saves you from the sore throat the next morning. Just fill the breast mold with water, and in two days, you will have two rock hard boobs waiting to be filled with an alcoholic beverage of your choice!

Insideout Glasses by AMT

InsideOut_Liqueur

The thing about stemware that really bugs us is that it’s so fragile, soon your set twelve is down to five.  And what are you going to do with five champagne flutes?  Fortunately, we have found a solution in AMT’s collection of shotliqueur (pictured), martini, and champagne glasses.  While we still recommend hand-washing these individually-made works of art, you can put them in the freezer. You might not need to chill them at all, though, as they naturally keep your beverage cool by preventing the heat from your hand from penetrating the liquid.  Who knew something so durable and functional could be so sexy?  ($48 and up)

Lushology Shot Glass Ice-Mold

Having a giant ice luge might be against your apartment’s policy (not to mention pricey and messy!) but that doesn’t mean that you can’t serve your guests shots instantly chilled.  Cold in the hands and on the lips?  Yes.  But delicious going down.  We suggest muddling some Patron tequila with limes, or Kettle One vodka with lemons and sugar, and then see where the night takes you.  These easy to use shot glass molds freeze in about 8 hours, so if you want more than a dozen, we suggest that you start a few days in advance and fill up your freezer.  ($12.99 at Target or Amazon).

DR L Riesling 2007

If you’re looking to please lighter palettes, you’ll enjoy this bottle of 2007 Loosen Bros. “Dr L” Riesling.  Light, fruity, matches well with seafood (try it with a tarty prawn dish).  At $11.99, a real testament to value with an 89 rating from Wine Spectator.  Not to mention, the bottle is simple, slim and stylish–this wine speaks for itself.  Enjoy it with wine novices, and show off your find to your wine snob friends.  More at Wine.com.

Old New Orleans Rum

Make every night Mardi Gras with Old New Orleans Rum.  Started by a group of artists and musicians in 1994, Old New Orleans Rum didn’t get it’s official kick-off until 1999.  Since then they have ramped up production and now produce 4 signature rums; Crystal (white rum), Amber (aged rum — that means dark), Cajun Spice (that means amazing), and their ultra-premium 10-year Special Edition (available only at the distillery, but worth the trip!).  If you’re looking for rum that is truly artist created, Old New Orleans has you covered. Concrete Tumblers

What could be more masculine than drinking whiskey, you say?  Drinking it out of concrete.  With the new Concrete Tumblers, you can do exactly that.  They’re extremely hard to get ahold of (and extremely hard to make, from what we’ve heard), but if you can find them in stock, nothing suits a fine glass of whisky better than these Concrete Tumblers ($40).

5 Barrel Pale Ale

Monday, April 20th, 2009

In 2005, Odell Brewing of Fort Collins, Colorado, threw their hat into the beer thunderdome that is Pale Ale.  4-years later, 5 Barrel Pale Ale stands in a league all it’s own.  Going through a total of six fresh full flower hop additions, this beer has all the complexity we could ask for in a great pale ale, all while staying balanced and drinkable.  Winning six major beer awards in the last 4 years, including Gold at the 2008 North American Beer Awards and Gold at the 2006 Great American Beer Festival, it’s no wonder this pale ale reminds us of everything we love about beer. 5 Barrel Pale Ale5 Barrel Pale Ale
